just got off the phone after speaking to Lithclake camp site. They have suspened their web site and are talking about not opening the site for the Classic weekend. Yes it has been wet/very wet, making the decission not to open the site is too early yet. If all the camp sites are closed it's going to cause some problems.!!

Thought this might be the case. Don't fancy waiting for a tractor to come and pull me out.. I'm going to look into alternatives to camping. This weather is really going to piss me off if it starts to cost me money.

Well, I live 40 min away. Happy to open doors to people, just limits happy juice consumption.

Whittlebury. It's cheaper if you pre-book, but they do charge for additional cars, and we'll have 2 cars as 4 into 2 doesn't go....

Dear Camper
As you are aware the police and Silverstone Circuit decided to close access to all Silverstone Campsites mid afternoon on Friday 6th July. We had no choice in the matter as the police were insistent that we allowed no more vehicles on site. The reason they gave us was due to the torrential rain causing health and safety issues, as emergency services could no longer access the campsite. You will appreciate that this was an event completely outside of our control, and that we (and you) had no choice other than to obey the police's directive.

We remind you of the clear confirmation on all the booking pages of our website that no refunds or exchanges are given. We suggest, therefore, that you notify any travel or household insurance which you may have which may cover the loss.

We do apologise for any inconvenience caused by the decision made by the police. We hope you will understand that this situation was outside of our control, and we do hope to be able to welcome you to future events.

Where people have contacted us on email we will reply as soon as time allows.

Well i'd booked it, Travel insurance co tell me that as they have cancelled it I'm not covered for the loss. Now off to chase mastercard. Frankly i'm not going to fork out for a hotel that's 20 miles away for the 3 days as well as losing £70 so there might be some weekend tickets going spare.

No mention of no refunds in the T&C

Terms and Conditions
Admission to the campsite is limited to persons to whom or vehicles for which passes have been issued by the Owner.

The owners of Litchlake Farm aim to provide safe and satisfactory facilities for all users of the campsite and do not accept liability for any damage or injury to persons or vehicles howsoever caused.

You are required to comply with regulations issued by the owners as displayed on site. In particular, neither you nor any member of your party is to commit any nuisance nor to behave in such a way so as to disturb or annoy the owner or any other users of the campsite.

All drivers and their vehicles must hold a current insurance policy to the minimum requirements of the road traffic acts.

At all times, you must make appropriate provision for the collection and disposal of all rubbish during and at the end of your stay. All vehicles and equipment are to be removed and your plot is to be left in a clean and tidy condition.

The following items are prohibited:
- Chinese lanterns, as they are illegal
- Monkey bikes, Minimotos, pit bikes, scooters and quads
- Gas containers over 15kg
- Boom box sound systems creating excessive noise
- Campfires, firewood and fire starters - no wood to be burnt on-site
- Fireworks
- Restricted substances
- Offensive weapons

No trading without prior written consent of the Owners

Acceptable items:
+ Gas containers of 15kg or less
+ Small BBQ's - only gas or charcoal to be used on-site and off the ground
+ Quiet music systems

In the event of any breach of these conditions, the Owners of Litchlake Farm reserve the right to refuse admission or re-admission to the campsite and you will be required to take all vehicles and equipment with you. In any such instance, no refund of any fees paid in advance shall be made.

At the time of booking you will need to tick the box to confirm your agreement of these terms and conditions.

I can't believe they won't give a refund. But hang on a minute the police asked for it to be closed LAST FRIDAY. They haven't asked for it to be closed next week. That is their choice..

just been doing some ringing around and Dadford Road is OK and Whittlebury are trying to assess how many they can take but won't know until monday. The police closures were only for the F1 w/e. Got a call booked through to Windmill Farm. Silverstone GC only open for the F1 and motogp.

sent an email to litchlake asking for a refund - watch this space.

Phoned the police they haven't got any issues. Litchlake have now said they'll give me a full refund. I think the notice on the site refers to the GP that has just gone. The telephone message says they're closed.

Dadford road said they've got loads of space but the site is a bit rutted in places - read into that what you will. They said no need to book just turn up

Whittlebury is to the North East and the closest entry is Copse (but when I was there that gate wasn't open, but that was for the BritCar 24H). If you are camping there take a torch as the walk back at night through the woods can be fun over the uneven ground.

Dadford Road is to the South East. Not stayed there, so cannot comment.

If Litchlake is not open (and unless the weather changes it would be pretty muddy), I will go for Woodlands (closest entry gate 15 - Vale) as there are access roads and i think it will be less affected by the wet ground, plus the new loo and shower blocks are better there.

I really hope the weather improves, it is a great weekend if the sun is shining. I've really been looking forward to it and surely we are due for a good weekend by now?

Let's hope we get a definite campsite where we are all together, otherwise it's not going to be much on a LEC gathering. Been really looking forward to this, and need cheering up (operation to fix wrist is this afternoon)

Woodlands sounds good, £40 for the weekend and good facilities???

After speaking to Stef, I've just called Silverstone about camping and booking/turn up on the day.

- Pay in advance it's 20% cheaper so is £40 (BUT £43.50 with booking fee) per person.
- Need to book before 5pm Thursday
- If you turn up on the day, you can have a space if they are not full. Probably unlikely this year, but they have sold all the electric hookup pitches already and the snoozeboxes
- The price is at the gate is £48

I am off all day friday, what time are people planning to arrive? I shall probably get there lunchtime/early afternoon.

Mind you, Whittlebury quote £30 - £50 per night, for a tent!

the whole idea behind camping was to avoid travelling in and out of the circuit each day to a b&b or hotel. I wonder what these sites are like after the F1. Thnking that bringing the peugeot estate so as to bring as many comforts from home as possible.
