maybe some of the vets of the ring could give some advice on this.
Unless it is very quiet, do
not start immediately when the Ring opens.
It takes allmost everyone about 1/4 of an hour to get around. It is best to wait untill the first big queue has left the barrier and you will probably experience a reasonable run without to much traffic when you start a minute or so behind them.
Same during the day. Watch how busy it is at the barrier and never plan your start directly after a 'closed period' (occur often, due to accidents) nor together with a group of cars that appear to be having fun together.
Beware of local 'cowboys' who seem to be driving in 'reasobably priced' cars. Often it turns out that their car is upgraded and every fast. But even in a slower car they might outrun you because of their extensive knowledge of the track.
Another suggestion is not to go driving together as an Elan group but keep a minute or so between each Elan starting.
Like Clemo said, The Ring demands
all of the drivers attention and concentration.
When riding together one might get distracted and and get into trouble on the dangerous sections when unaware of other faster traffic.
Driving together might also attrack local heroes to race the bunch of Lotus Elans with nasty risks....
When wet. Beware

Everywhere offcourse but especially in the fast Hatzenbach II section. It it easy to loose the car there in the wet.
Also beware(!!!!) of the 'Sprunghugel' ('jumps') at the PFLANZGARTEN section. It is a very fast section with a big chance of unstability.
There are a lot of new barriers along the sides of that section.....
I myself do that downhill at a speed of +200 KMH. But only with my dampers turned into the stiffest position. In a softer setting the car gets dangerously instable at the exit.
