Good fotos Sy :-)

Great to see all you guys - what a great daywith wall to wall sunshine. three excursions on the track, 4 if you count the parade lap. Session 1 courtsey of Nige in his swift Elan. session 2 in a toyota powered Exige, breathtakingly quick. session 3 in a tweaked VX220 turbo which was insane culiminating in 2 dramatic spins. Had an interesting chat with Surferphil - Phil Lotus beat you to it and built the 2-11 :lol:

Only downside was there was not the usual burger van :cry:

Dave Eds was that an plus 2 elan estate that was behind us on the M4 just before i turned off - never seen anything like it :shock:

Was it pale metallic blue by any chance?

yes it was Sy, had me doing double double takes. It joined the M4 at Reading so wasn't from CC. It looked like a mini scimitar

It was too - Reg RAM ***N and carried on M4 when I headed north to M25....

...then it was just me 'til home.

Also have to say big thanks to Mike (MPX) for the PAX in his Esprit. You all know how I yearn for an Esprit, but most of you don't know I've never been in one until today.

The blue +2 Estate is a 'Shooting Brake' There was an article on it in one of the classic car magazines a good few months back, it really is excellent and does look very much like a smaller Scimitar from some angles. I'll see if I can dig out the article and post a reference.

Good day at CC as always, ended up doing 4 sessions with Chris T, Dave Eds, a chap called Alex who was with the LEF lot and an old mate of mine who turned up unexpectedly. Car held it's end up well but there was a lot of quicker cars (and drivers) there today. Need more power and less weight and looking at Sys pictures a stiffer suspension set up, today was the first time the body roll has been really noticeable, in the chicanes and at Old Paddock bend, maybe for next year :wink:

Some pictures of the day - got 6 sessions on track but had to go to circuit motors and have some new pads fitted - Predator track pads had glazed over leaving me with no brakes :-(

Had a great time too - despite the shock, horror, embarassment of curtailing a session for everyone when the coolant return pipe popped off its spigot and made it look like I'd just blown up in a spectacular kind of way - pouring steam out through the louvres. Once off the track, the LEFers helped the repair and Dave Eds provided the refill so thoroughly deserved a ride for the shakedown session to prove it was now OK under pressure. All tickety boo.

Agree with Nige that drivers were faster out there this year. There was actually less pressure to get on track, shorter queues and fewer people all round, but once out there I was nearer the slower types than normal instead of my usuual mid-table obscurity.

I have just read in the Jan 09 issue of Club Lotus News (Thanks DaveT by the way) that this event is on Saturday 23rd May this year. 9am til 5pm. Spectator entry is free.

Track packages are £84 which guarantees a minimum of 2no 15 minute sessions, and then an open pit lane when all the sessions finish. Cars must comply with 100dB noise limit and run on road tyres. Contact Club Lotus to book.

There is a parade lap for Lotus cars at lunchtime
