Donington? Now Malvern 2010 - General discussion

yep...not on the site yet...but deffo in your mag....
erm.....we need to get our act together a bit sooner then I reckon......
Im not sure about the curry and the accomodation so I think we need 'local' knowledge.....

So... Donington Travelodge services and Melbourne Inn curry on Friday night, and then a convoy to the event on the Saturday

- we'll just need to get up a bit earlier Saturday morning!

I know nowt about the area.......

all I do know is that I personally would like a big secure carpark for all of us and a good pub n curry house

There is a good curry house in Droitwich.

There is an excellent pub 20 minutes from the showground at Tarrington (between Hereford and Ledbury), they have accommodation, and I can sort out camping in the village.

I may be staying there anyway (seeing as my brother is a permanent fixture in the bar, and I know the food is bloody good) - and the landlord owns an Elise.

Id done a travelodge, holiday inn etc etc etc......
is the travelodge in the centre of town?....from the pic it looks like part of a tower block.....guess the parking would be crap.......just want someone to confirm.......

what does your nephew know?.....hotels?....curry houses?..... etc etc etc....

Oh god, I promised myself I wouldn't do this, but we have a company 'arrangement' with the largest hotel in Malvern - The Shabby.

I'll have a word about block booking a Friday and Saturday (in principle).

Blimey!

They have 103 rooms in total, but the Friday night is already fully booked with 4 large parties. One of which is "The Lotus Club" who have got 16 rooms reserved.
I would think you're better off getting several hotel/guest houses in Malvern (there are plenty - I'll compile a list, if asked), but meeting up for a few beers Nag's Head and a Curry Anupam (which I can book) at a set time and rendezvousing in the morning at a pre-arranged/surveyed site for the convoy.
As an alternative to the (quite expensive) Anupam Zam Zam's is a Balti-style restaurant where you can bring your own drinks.

Nowhere is ideal for everyone but both Malvern & Donington are more or less in the middle of England.

However, although further, it works better for me as my folks still live in the beautiful county of Herfordshire. 5* luxury accommodation and less than 30 miles from Malvern. One disadvantage though, I might miss the curry - although this could be construed as a good thing - no need for bog rolls in the ice box

Thanks for the offer Dave but I'll be there sure as night follows day. It's been an institution for me these last 5 years so it would be rude to miss it.

Perhaps if your Tarrington idea takes off we could organise a convoy from there. I'm always up for camping and you'd get Man Utd as well no doubt ?

I thought about taking an early £29 punt on the Worcester Travelodge but I find them very sterile - they're like up market youth hostels and down market B an B's

PS My sister and partner will be over from Vancouver though so Sarah will probably want a lift in a fast Elan ! Any offers ?

By the way, the Tarrington Arms, of which I've had a few shandies in over the years, would be a very good stand in for the usual Donington Navvy Inn Sat night nosh up
