Glasgow is a long drive so thinking of doing all days. What happens on Sun, departure etc, or should I camp Sun night and leave Mon am. Not been to Silverstone since 1990 when I lived in north London and getting out and down the M1 used to be a nightmare. Not been at LM since 2007 (5yrs ffs) and been planning Classic LM but life gets in the way. Had a Harley long time ago and bought another 2009 so Elan and LEC taken a back seat, but just spent almost £2k on a rear end rebuild so as I said to Mrs J, use it or lose it (she wants a boxster). So determined to clock up some miles this year in Elan, catch up with you, Monty, Dico, Rambo and any other old friends who are about. We can bbq some curried shite and watch the chunder bros chunder lol.

It would be good to meet up again.

I'm not sure what the traffic northwards is like - but it's easy enough to get away if you skip the last race and/or leave your car in the campsite on the last afternoon.

Is the £40 for the camping per person or per tent?

It is £40 per person if you stay 4 nights - i.e the fee is £10 per person per night. Same price as 2 years ago. Facilities are marginally better than Le Mans

For those that need it - here is a link to the campsite.

In brief,
It's a tenner a head.
They allow BBQ's but not campfires.
They have toilets and will have showers for certain events in the year - including this one

Just to add that that "tenner a head" is PPPN. If you want it cheaper you could always do a "Clemo" and smuggle your passenger in in the boot

Camping, so is the consensus on the unofficial Henwood site, or the official Woodlands sight. I'm used to Le M being spartan but would prefer a wee bit more comfort if possible

Well, things may have improved but the showers at Woodlands were bl**dy awful when we went and the toilets weren't much better. It's a noisy campsite and as I said it's a long, long way from the track which is an issue if you go the the concerts - trudging over a mile through the woods in pitch blackness was not my idea of fun..

What sort of comfort were you looking for?

Need to be thinking about the health affects of rough living on my ageing bones and I'm not sure I brought an Elan in order to rough it (if I had I'd have bought an Elise )!

Does anyone know what it's like at the Pembury Hotel particularly regarding site access?

OK , so i'll go with the flow to Henwood, can't be any worse than le Mans Blue camping. Looks like stocking up on wet wipes and 48hr anti perspirant then .... I think I still have an unused solar shower from 2007 if its gets warm enough to heat it up lol

new Alternator fitted and haedlight rewired. ICE on order. Might have to treat the old gal to some new alloys before Silverstone.
