The bbq was great even though the weather did not match our expectations. :smt117
So lets get the event organised. :gathering:

I'm here!

Offer of using my place as a start/finish point stands. Suggestion is that we meet at mine bringing stuff that can go on a BBQ later. Take a drive out towards Shaftesbury (route includes Zig Zag hill and is supposed to be twistiest piece of road in UK) return via the same route (or different if you want) a round trip from me of about 40 miles and then BBQ at mine. Need to set a date, I'm away from 7 Aug to 17 Aug so thats out, other than that the summer is pretty free at the moment.

Nige,

Good stuff - sounds like a good run. Goodwood Festival of Speed is July 9 - so we would want to avoid that Sunday? Most June days we're free - but you'll be at Le Mans the tail end of June.

Do you want to throw a date up and see how it suits everyone?

Cheers

Right! We tentatively settled on 5 Aug as a date at the Hen & Chickens last night, good job it was tentative as when I mentioned that at home this morning I got a certain amount of disapproval :( . It's the weekend before we go on holiday to France and have other things to do towards this. So would people please look at their diaries and see what alternative dates might work, Saturday or Sunday work for me as does any weekend in July or either of the last 2 weekends in Aug.

Regardless of date the plan is to do a run to the Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford, Somerset (just off the A303) see here not Lotus Specific but a good collection of cars and as good an excuse as any. I will investigate the option for us being able to use their test track but having just had a look again at the cost of this I see it's £300 for 6 vehicles and £40 for each additional vehicle on half day hire terms.

For those that wish there is an option to RV at my place which is about an hour from Sparkford and do a x country drive via Shaftesbury and Gillingham over what is claimed to be the twistiest piece of road in the UK, whether it is or isn't it's a good drive with good scenery. Again for those that wish the return can also be via my place where food previously placed in my fridge can be ritually sacrificed on the BBQ. This makes for a full day with an aim to RV at mine at between 1000-1100 and be back at mine to get the BBQ going by about 1700 times are flexible.

So, please come back to me on your preferred dates and we'll see what we can make of this.

Right, I've managed to pin down the home diary and my proposed date is Sunday 30 July. Other than that we're looking at either of the last 2 sundays in August.

So, if 30 Jul works for you please post so here and we'll start to build up a list of attendees. Plan remains the same as previously posted. Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford Somerset (just off the A303) is the location we're heading for, with the option of starting off from and finishing at my place which is about an hour from Sparkford just North of Bournemouth.

*** Bump ***

We talked about this at the H&C last night and commented that attendance seems a bit thin (but it's happening anyway). So far it's me, Chris, Jim and Kier, Rob & Michelle possibly but the rest are missing in action. So if your on then post your intent here.

Rob great that you and Michelle can make it no worries if your in the snotter (hope the Elan is ready though) and if you bring Charliebob so much the better 'Jonbob' would be very entertained.

Looks as though Haynes Museum have the Somerset RS Owners Club day on 30 Jul so there will be a slack handful of other machinery in attendance.

I've just PM'd those who have said a definite yes to the Scoff and spin next Sunday with the necessary details, I've also PM'd at least one likely suspect who seems to have vanished (Stevie where are you!). Grateful if those who are planning on being there let me know if they are going to go to the Haynes museum directly or convoy from my place. Also if any one else decides during this week that they fancy a run out on Sunday 30 Jul then let me know and I'll send you the details the others now have.
