Here is your golden oldie with some late observations on the weekend...

I have to point out that although Ron left the Lodge to go home on Sunday 25th July and it took him 5 days to post his comments, it didn't actually take him 5 days to drive down to Edinburgh. Now that would just be silly. It took him 4 days to drive and he spent one day in his bed - bless him! (just kidding old man )

5 seems to be my favoured number, as Rambo pointed out when I achieved 5 posts in the 5 years on the LEC.

I achieved 15 with my last post. However I believe i will meet my God before I become one on the LEC.

I throw down the gauntlet of a time trial from Grantshouse to Duns on that lovely 10 mile bendy stretch which we did with the Whams a year ago. How much money are you confidently going to wager?

I'll take Archie to win in a time of 4 days and 13 hours, narrowly beating Ron who managed a very respectable time of 5 days and 1 hour.

Mind you after our small 1st spin at the track which was at a the Hairpin (about 30mph) she wasn`t going to get back in the car so had to talk her in to it then when we spun at 80mph and it didn`t bother her as much

BTW when i said it`s a bit boring i was meaning that the video doest do those roads justice there fantastic and had great fun bottoming the car out on the way back from Achies

I met up with some of the Lotus Forum guys at Aboyne and came back to the lodge for lunch.
I followed Tut in his Elise (supercharged Honda @ 300bhp) along the south deeside road and boy did he throw up a lot of stone chips! A few struck me on the face
It was good fun tho. Lunch at the lodge then I followed the black V8 Esprit up over the lecht and onto Tomintoul. Boy what a noise - awesome!
Tut and a few of the cars sped through a speed trap on the other side of the lecht - the cops are starting to get serious around here.

I've never seen one on any of these roads. What are they playing at?

The only accident that I've heard of involved the polis on driver training when they smashed into an ambulance at that sharp left hander at the bottom of the hill after the Lecht (just before the layby where your mates from Edinburgh left their Locost when they smashed the sump) and badly injured the ambulance crew. Bit of an own goal.

So where exactly was the speed trap?

Not sure what we're doing next weekend. What's involved in teh Ballater thing?

2 miles north of the locost layby. Pointing north to catch people comming from Tomintoul

Meet in the Ballater Playing fields (highland games ground) at 12:00 then a parade through the streets. Then a fast run to the Lodge, Strathdon, Logie Coldstone and back. Park in the park where there's "entertainment and stalls". About 50 cars +tractors

It's good if the weather is nice. Scott is comming with his esprit.
I think the Keith show is on too. It's bigger.

Glad you all had a fun time! Would've loved to have been there, but this working on a Sunday and doing weddings can be a bit of a pest sometimes...
Dad took good care of the car (!), but not totally convinced how long it took to get back...
Maybe you could come to my neck of the woods sometime - fabulous driving roads in the Borders (and not too many Traffic cops...!!!)
You could always camp in the churchyard - no graves!
