Out of interest, my little 1960's Formula Junior race car is (finally) being re-built by a guy who is also doing up Carroll Shelby's Mitter race car. They are currently side by side in the garage and it's likely (from the race history I can gather) they raced each other in Germany in the mid 60's! Reunion eh?!

Anyway, the Mitter is going to be raced at Classic Le Mans and is going to look mint when complete and what with it's history will be an interesting car to see. Shame I can't make it along this year

sent it via post office checking on the 8th. tracked it and all I get back is it has been received at Durham checking office,

I HAVE A PASSPORT!!! Cant tell you how much stress getting a passport has been with post office staff all saying different things and then because of the delays had to get new pics and re countersigned which pushed the date a bit to close for comfort!

Insurance - check - Yep covered in the EU
Breakdown Cover - check - £80 AA additional to normal
Ferries - check - booked (with cabin outbound)
Accommodation - check - sorted
Passport - check - at last!
Warning Triangle, Fluorescent Vest etc - check - I finally have a reason to have more than one vis vest kicking around at home
Travel Insurance - check - sorted

B service completed on Tuesday all in really good condition except Chris (Foulds) is not sure my oil cooler will hold up but hey that is what breakdown cover is for isn't it?
Map - Full Europe paper book and also tomtom maps bought
GB sticker - Just purchased GB euro plates as I guess I cant use a magnetic one

Oh just remembered I need some headlight deflectors...

yup got those, If youve room for the radiator Dave it may be a worthwhile insurance policy! Chris has said he could ship one over if I was really stuck...

Got back at midnight last night - great week away!

Paul - couldn't remember the current record for the Pringle challenge, but Nick managed 20!
Chris - found the 'red barrells' at Super-U, then found them for 2 Euros less at a different supermarket - still just as drinkable (5L of wine for 4Euros is about my price!)
Dissapointed not to need ANY of my tools this year - does that mean Elans are getting more reliable, or just that the ones needing mending are kept under cobwebs in Manchester?????

Jim proved what a skinflint he is by refusing to pay for the ferry with the elan, and opting to cycle (Bloody good effort, that man!!)

Excellent week despite some light drizzle!

Enjoyed driving, bowling, badminton, drinking, eating, playing pool, playing the fool , a day on the beach, Bastille day and even finding a NM M100 in a car museum!

Well played Muley for the bike riding and for camping in the rain, and for your excellent pikeyness!

I had an easy, but long, ride back but could have done without the heavy showers!

To anyone considering this trip there are a few pitfalls in the Green Guide Book but it's definitely well worth doing.
