I have to admit, if I had an Ebola sat in the garage (with a/c), I may be trying to find an excuse to use it in this weather......

..... but as I haven't, I'll be setting the alarm for stupid o'clock and leaving home at 0430 with the hood down (and probably the heated seats on for the first bit of the trip) and driving through all 4 British weather seasons to get there!

There is a sensible argument for having the roof up (other than your better half's hair situation ).
I've been suck in a traffic jam on a scorching day and had to get out and put it up or fry .
We'll have a golf brolly handy just in case of slow traffic.

Hood down, anything above 40mph you stay dry in the rain......

.... Lotus brolly on the passenger seat for red traffic lights in the rain, or hot sun in slow traffic.....

.... only have roof up if absolutely peeing down and likely to be stop-start driving a lot. (in fact, today's job is to go and check that the hood cover will open in case I need to put it up whilst stationary!)

Agreed. Done it more times than I care to remember but in torrential rain above 60 ish the stream of water that was running along the top part of the driver's side window goes higher and your right ear and shoulder gets it. It's interesting to observe how putting the headlights up changes the airflow over the windscreen too.

I'm making good progress on my sewing so may be in 'Scabby Collapso', complete with new rear window, after all.

With just a few days to go until the Hendy Performance Open Day at Thruxton Circuit, we wanted to share some important information about the big day! We hope you're all as excited as we are!

First of all, cars! We’ll have some remarkably special cars on display for you to see, including the all-new Lotus Emira, ŠKODA Bonneville land speed record car, BAC Mono, GR Yaris, MOKE, The New Range Rover, the 2023 Raptor V6 and some of the Nissan UK Heritage Fleet including the incredible rear engine V6 Micra, 240Z and more! There is also a Supercar Paddock plus a Show & Shine display.

We’ve got a great selection of independent trade stands including HEL Performance, OZ Parts and Terry’s Tools to name just a few.

Car Clubs! We currently have over 30 clubs including Ariel, Lotus and Classic Jaguar, with members showing off their cars.

You'll also have the opportunity to take part in some free activities such as taking a passenger ride on the Land Rover Experience, driving the racing simulators and burning off some energy with the brilliant ŠKODA Scalextric Cycle Challenge!

And if that’s not enough, we also have the world-famous Paul Swift Stunt Display Team doing two shows on the day and the Tiff Needell vs Árón Taylor-Smith Challenge!

Please remember to have your ticket confirmation email to gain entry to the event. You will have received this by email after reserving your ticket.

08:30 for Car Clubs and Show & Shine cars
10:00 for Public tickets.

There’s at least 3 different designs of hood stay !

Yes, thanks for organising Alan. A very enjoyable day with a great range of cars to gawp at and loads of nice people to talk to. I often have a red face and today's is mostly due to the sunburn - maybe there is a point in hoods after all.

Sorry to say but you all missed Tiff Needell having a go in the C5, the weather got better has the day went on pleased we had a meeting this year and it was good see you all again looking forward to next year.

Great day out, with some good people.

Got a bit sunburnt during the day, but cooled off in the rain on the way home (had to stop at Port Talbot to put the roof on). Got home at just gone 1900, no traffic jams, so all good.

Star attraction was the C5.... and watching Alans face as Tiff was trying to make it either power-slide or tip over!

Just thought, Lotus must have been the most represented marque at the show. Didn't know Hendy were a Lotus dealer either!

Hendy have 3 Lotus dealerships, latest 2 are Exeter and Eastleigh - where they took over from Snows. And the Poole lot used to be Westover.
Did spot the odd Lotus in other areas of the cars on display.
