Duxford Spring Car Show - Sunday 5th May

Hi Guys,

I'm organising this on behalf of the Lotus Forums and was wondering if any of our many Elan friends would like to join us. I remember quite a few of you at the 2011 event, there's an old thread of yours here:

I've been in touch with Duxford and it's going to be £10 per car on the gate, which is a resonable discount on the normal £17.50. I've set up a Thread on TLF here:

If you would like to come along please either post in the thread above if you're a TLF member or post your name in this thread and I'll copy it over to TLF.

I really need to get an idea of numbers fairly soon to let Duxford know, so if you could put your name down ASAP I would appreciate it.

Are you sure it's £10 a car? I think it was per person last time

Hi All,

If any of you guys want to come on Sunday I've got plenty of free spaces. Meet details below:


The plan for Sunday is to meet at Birchanger Green Services on the M11 from 9..00am - 9.30am

Motorway: M11

Where: at J8 and from A120

Postcode: CM23 5QZ


We'll leave at 9.30am prompt and head for Duxford Air Field

IWM Duxford
Cambridgeshire
CB22 4QR

It should take around 20mins, so we'll arrive just after the gate opens at 9.45am.

I've attached a general map of Duxford below. We've not been told this time where our area is, so we'll follow the directions from the marshalls on site.

Had a good day at Duxford today

Joined the mainly red Lotus car club, many thanks to Martin for his organisation for this day (His was the white one)



On first glance this looks like a nice Ferrari

It says Ferrari on the tax disc ?



On closer inspection maybe it should have said Airfix look at the calliper

That looks like an XK 140, denoted by the bigger bumper than the XK 120, beautiful car

Is that not what a Ferrari caliper should look like then?

It is a one piece plastic mould, when you looked behind the wheel you could see
the some what underwhelming real brakes.
I have to admire the length to which they had gone to to create the "Ferrari"
but can't help thinking their efforts could of gone to better use.

Thread Hijack...

Drove the 2011 long shift car (apparently now only come in short shift), this one: http://www.lotussilverstone.co.uk/used- ... -&-Premium

Have to say, comfort is very good and drive smooth and also comfy. Not rattly and aggressive lie the Exige or Elise, much more refined and suitable for longer journeys.

To start I liked it but felt I'd probably wish for ore power. Thinking I'm used to a turbo kick and the Evora was just steady and progressive, but still fast.

Half way I was introduced to the Sports Button!

That changed it all! Much more enjoyable!

My key summary would be that the Evora is not meant to be a spankable go-cart, that's what the others in the range are for. I'd get the Evora for comfort, fun, economy (without the Sport button pressed it would be more economical than my Elan) great styling and for longer distance driving. It would well suit a daily drive but combined with Blipii, it would compliment my garage choice very well in my opinion.

There are faster versions of course but naturally also come with the added costs. Good for an only sports car choice.

In all I am very hooked. I'd probably go Evora over the Vantage and I'm yet to have a play with what Porsche can offer! But they are not British...

If I am lucky next year and my Formula Junior sells well, I may just play with the cash on some cars before investing it more sensibly but anyone can go out there and test drive just for the fun of it!

You really had the weather for it too and looks like a fab show!

Shame it clashed with many other things on the same weekend, but bank holidays do tend to create event clashes.
