Christmas break meet - South East - Westerham?

Postby Ian T » Sat 13.12.2014, 00:32

Looks like a couple of us are up for a little meet at the Grasshopper in Westerham for a natter over the Christmas break, subject to nice weather.

Here is is: http://grasshopperinn.co.uk/contact-us Basically on the A25 between Sevenoaks and Godstone, locals will know this road as 'M25 broken' or similar... The Grasshopper is a suggestion simply because they have a car park the size of France and a bar, this time of year with a real fire. Other venues are available and I'm happy for me to do more of the driving instead. :D

We all have family plans at this time of year and given the desire to enjoy the (probably frosty) air in our hair, the weather might completely thwart this, but I'm thinking about 20 or 21 December in the daytime.

Would this work?

Ian.

Great - of course TODAY is shaping up nicely at the moment, but by the time everyone reads this it will either be dark, raining or similar.

Should of said I'm out in mine now waiting for the wife whilst she has her nails done. Would have been an excuse not to go saying that I am in a cafe waiting for a fry up :D need to get a tyre before we meet really as I have a slow puncture which I now see is a small nail. Sods law

Sod's Law indeed.

Did I say I have a tyre changing machine? Actually, your wheels are probably too tidy to put on my machine so probably best to stick with Plan A. Once we have met up next week my general plan is to have all the inlet manifold stuff off (hoping that's not as fiddly as it looks) and then have the tyres off so I can refurbish the wheels silver as they were originally. I'm not sure if a previous owner went for this grey/green/glitter finish intentionally but it looks pretty faded and poor now.

Today has been lovely, I expect you had a nice run round. :)

Yep thanks :burnout: will replace the tyre Wednesday. The tyre takes 2 weeks to go down and the tyre shop is only a few hundred yards away. I've got a brand new tyre on my 2nd set of wheels but I think I will keep as a spare for now. Going to try khumo tyre this time as they can't match the pirelli on there and the new pirellis were £40 more.

Well done Trevor, first post corrected now, I did mean Saturday or Sunday as I don't know if I will be off work the next week yet.

Does Saturday (20th) also work for you Tim?

Weather forecasts are meaningless this far out but I hope we get a dry day of the two.

Looks like the weather may be favourable for a meet at the weekend. Preference appears to be Saturday 20th. What time :?: :?:

Not sure if the Grasshopper does food on Saturdays but expect so, I can fit around general consensus.

Either go for a cup of coffee or bar lunch? Either way a natter And opportunity to kick each others tyres seems to be in order. :)

What is everyone's preference? I am assuming that Saturday is the day so the question is what time, how long?

How about aiming for lunchtime 12:30 - 13:00 on Saturday, a spot of lunch and a chin wag, some tyre kicking before it gets dark.
That would give me time enough the throw a bucket of water over the elan in the morning.

What do we think?

Sounds good to me, mine needs a good clean before I let you guys look her over again haha. It would be nice to compare my freshly rebuilt steering system to someone elses too :-D

Sounds perfect, Tim.

My slightly sloppy steering rack is available for comparison - in my case if the adjustment is accessible that is all it should take to kill the minor slack in it.
