Think I shall prefer to be away from the bridge and bar area. Avoid the wannabe musicians and singers, go see the bands playing!!! Prefer a quieter place to pitch in my older age...

Us old lags ie me and Jim will be between the bar/bridge and the bogs, infield area. Usually fairly quiet there apart from the odd rasping fart and the early morning roar of AC Cobras and their replicas :burnout: f

I think they are all replicas. Owners of genuine Cobras don't sleep in tents ;)

Have a safe drive..

Reasonable weather predicted for the weekend. All clear today but an early morning shower tomorrow which will make qualifying for the formula juniors interesting :burnout:

The FJ crew are pretty hardy! Been following their global tour as part of their Diamond Jubilee :) Always put on a good show! Enjoy

What a fab weekend!

Cannot stress enough how more of you guys need to come along to this weekend. So much better than Donigton which drew a larger LEC crew... :?

Great to meet Rambo, Jim & Dave.

Major thanks goes out for Drunken Stef Support for Friday night!!! :drunk: :smt030

Sorry I plied you with too much free beer... ;-)

Good to catch up with Jim, Stef and David

Stef - thanks for making us VPP''s (Very Pished Persons) on Friday evening Haven't had so many Silverstone Pit Stops before :drunk: :drunk: Lucky you had us old lags to show you the way home though cos I reckon you'd have dossed in the programme tent at Stowe corner if you had your way LOL

I agree, it is a great event and, though I (and others) thought The Boomtown Rats were disappointing The Stranglers on Saturday night were awesome! A most excellent time was had by all.
Oooooh shiney!

My first time. I only did the Sunday and I didn't stay, but it was a great event even so. Masses of fine cars from many marques to gawp at. A good spot for Club Lotus and excellent collection of the cars. Some great close racing. Unbelievable access to the cars/racers/pitlane - better than Goodwood and not far off a standard track day. Also much enjoyed my one lap of the circuit in the lunchtime parade although the wait for that was the one downside of the day. Why we had to go at 11:00 for a 12:45 parade I really don't understand.

Hi Mike. Glad you enjoyed it. Have been banging on for 7 years about how good Silverstone is, and 6 times cheaper than Goodwood  I can't understand why more LEC'rs aren't there as its a very good replacement for the annual Donington pilgrimage

PS If I'd known you were doing a parade lap I'd have advised you not to bother due to the lengthy time wait to get on track. I did the same 3 years ago in my red M100 and wished I hadn't bothered. Stationary for 1.5 hours before the event in the holding area and even stationary on track waiting to come off again  Still, I did give it some welly on the Wellington straight after I'd allowed enough of a gap to build up :burnout:

Well its not really got the Lotus flavour that was Donington Rambo, but I agree its definitely an event worth targeting. I paid £59 for the car plus 2 on the Sunday through Club Lotus which turned out ideal for me as I was told it was quieter and I don't like crowds. For that reason Sunday Goodwood is ruled out for me so I now go to the MMS on the Thursday and see all of the show but without the racing or celebs. I don't know the price of the weekend, but I paid £58 for two tickets for the Thursday so not really all that different.

The parade lap was surprisingly brisk - perhaps helped because they were running so far behind schedule - proper fun so glad I waited. First time I'd been on Silverstone track since a Top Gear event many many years ago before they changed the circuit and built the new Wing. Never done a proper track day there but seemed good, although hard to see some of the lines on first acquaintance.

See you next time....

Mike - I always get in early and get the Early bird 2 41 discount. £49.50 pp or 3 days full racing. Fabulous value for money

Incidentally, you say you don't like crowds ? Then Friday (qualifying sessions) is definitely the day for you

PS Did you see my lovely Black Beastie on the Club Lotus stand ? It got lots of admiring glancesand positive comments

Probably (!) but I'm afraid I don't know the Beastie. I'm assuming black  but there were many lovely looking Lotus in JPS garb. An M100?
