Gareth - we tried to resurrect the original Lakes bash last year (campsite attached to the pub and also accommodation in Sykeside pub and barn) and there was a lot of interest but nothing happened in the end. I think Dapinky was organising it but in the end it came to nothing due to conflicting dates. As Maz has stated, hammer a stake in the ground and let folks work round it as you will never please everyone all the time

Sykeside https://sykeside.co.uk/ was a great site with good food and bevvy. We couldn't have asked for more. Apart from the weather. No driving was done but in some cases this was a good thing as a few amongst us couldn't even walk - Stevo, Scott, Monty, Dico....

My penneth: it may be worth considering what other Lotus club events take place in the areas you suggest and picking one which doesn't have an event (or a major event) so you get variety and don't dilute existing arrangements. For example there are major annual Club Lotus weekends incl drives out in the Lakes and in Snowdonia. There are also the MLOC meet at Chatsworth and the Serpentine Run in the Peaks: are these 2 major or minor? Not aware of any meets in the Yorks Dales.

But ultimately I agree with maz_r: you will get as many ideas as people wanting to go, so you just need to decide what and where and make it a fait accompli, but with the hotel or camp on hotel site option.

Thanks for the idea and volunteering. I will do my best to attend, but I am currently about to plan/book a 10 day driving holiday in France in September: Lotus Elan down to Carcassone/Nimes via the Dordogne and back. :D :D :burnout: :burnout:

well it was either that weekend or the previous one....and I only went with that one to move it away from the bank holiday
a well know time for the hotels/b&bs/camping places to stick their prices up for the 'season' finale (the BH weekend I mean)

doh!

That's unfortunate but it is highly unlikely that a date would be suitable for everyone & if there was, then finding it would take too long.
You can hardly ask for the weddings to be re-arranged either.
Many of us have met your Elan. Hopefully there will be another event soon which you can make it to.

Sadly as I expected, I am unable to make it as I will be touring in France in the Elan.

Not sure if it's intended as a blokes' weekend or a couples' weekend though(?), although a navigator will be essential!!

Good luck with it Gareth and maybe next year.

its not a blokes weekend........
Id rather pitch it as a weekend away with the car with the wife thrown in......
altho' if my Mrs sees that I'll have to make sure its changed to a weekend away with the wife....with a bit of car stuff thrown in....
:P

everyone is welcome......and yes you will probably need a navigator so make sure there is someone sat next to you........

We need to find a way of fitting in a convoy of some kind. This was one of my favourite parts of the Donington festival & I'm sure there are others who felt the same way.
How about we start off this way on our Saturday drive?

Appreciate it is up to all to find their own place to stop, but found this place that has camping, for those happy under canvas, and a B&B for those who prefer more in the way of creature comforts.

Staden Grange

Given it's not that large and seems close to the centre of Buxton, might be worth a chat with them about a group discount....? WDYT?

that was one of the reason I picked Buxton.....
there are posh hotels......B&Bs.......and camping all very close together........
give people a good choice and also the taxi's are very abundant so getting people home shouldn't be a problem either.....

I'll do a clothing run if there is interest. I could bring it along to the meet just like Gareth used to do for Donington.
