Pete
Ive done a run out for you all.......
its a tulip map about 100miles through the peaks and should take you about 3hrs if you don't stop.....
Ive included points of interest and pubs....so just stop and have a pub lunch if you wish.....

I thought of meeting on Saturday at about 10:30.....then you can all collect your maps and set off.....

Im thinking Bistro for Saturday night.......the food is generally very good...(Ive never had a bad meal there)
as there appears to be 8 of us at the moment.......
what about time?......8pm sound good to everyone?...or earlier
cheers
G

SK17 6RZ

the Devonshire Dome, one of the most dramatic spaces in Britain and the largest unsupported dome in Europe. Built in 1779 by the 5th Duke of Devonshire, this magnificent grade II* listed building has dominated the Buxton sky line ever since.

its also right outside Johns Hotel.......

Gareth,
OK, 2 for the Saturday night bistro; 8pm is fine. I'll just tell my wife to be on her best behaviour :drunk:  .

I've done the Scottish air show and am now in England, going to see some friends in the Wirral before driving to Buxton on Friday afternoon. What time for the curry?

right Bistro booked....for 8 of us at 8pm.....
as for the run on the Saturday.......we have rain at 10am but glorious sunshine by 1pm (according to the metoffice)

the curry on Friday night is for 4persons im afraid (Ive not booked as they can accommodate that as a walk in)
its at 35 High St, Buxton SK17 6HA......
its about a 5minute walk from Johns hotel

Im in Bath and Bristol on Thursday and Friday respectively this week and doubt I'll be able to get away until about 6pm on Friday so depending on traffic I should be back for about 10pm if all is ok I may meet you all for beer....but....if its all a bit slow then I'll see you all on Saturday.....

we are definitely out on the Saturday night.....

Ive had stuff from John, Maz and Pete but Ive heard nothing from anyone else
other than that the rest of the list is quite....so that's the 8 for Saturday.....

back to Saturday.......I didn't know if people wanted to leave it until a little later....say noon?......(initial thought was aim for 10:30) just so its top down weather all the way.........also gives people a little time in Buxton if they want....
or a long relaxed breakfast

thanks
G

ps I'll print the route maps off tonight......
:-D

Well done Gareth. Later on Saturday is fine by me, avoiding rain always a good idea.

Gareth,
Ta for the info. A noon start on Saturday is fine by me, however the forecast has changed and it does look to be dry earlier, so I'm ok with a morning start.
Who else is going to the curry, what time, and how and where will we meet up/recognise each other? Lotus blossom in lapel and copy of Lotus News rolled up under left arm?
Shame you can't make it, but looking forward to seeing you again on Saturday.
John 8)

P.S. Mark, cheers! I'll buy your round and drop the bill off with you on Tuesday on our way back to Aberdeen.

there is a pub next door called the Sun Inn.....
you could meet in there.......that would suit the copy of the sport and a rubber chicken in your top pocket

a kilt would be a dead give away

or just meet in the curry house....first one in the curry house asks for a table for 4 and tells the waiter your waiting on a couple of people....and that your group is LEC......
then if you go in an say table for LEC they will either direct you to the table with two folk sat at it or look blankley at you in which case you go back to asking for a table for 4 and tell the waiter your waiting on a couple of people....and that your group is LEC......

I hope you all have a good time, can't make the full w/e and it's a long way to go for just one day. Full report with pics please.
Could the 'Hokey-Cokey' actually be what it's all about?
