Go karting in Lincolnshire September 2017

Postby Dave Eds » Mon 21.08.2017, 20:19

I'm going to try to arrange a go karting event up near Dave T's at Woodhall Spa. I'm sure a few of you would like to pop over to say hi to the old scouseblagger :P

Firstly I need to gauge how much interest there might be and what dates are preferred before I can firm anything up.

So who else is interested and what dates CANT you do

1) Daisy T - fairly flexible
2) chris t - fairly available
3) Spud - fairly gullible

Dave,

this is one of those gatherings that sounds pretty cool as long as you got a plan to make it worth x amount of hours driving to get there for most people.

Im in 2 minds about it. as its 2 hours away from me, so definitely only able to attend in a weekend or possibly friday evening.
are you planning on a gathering of some kind for banter and beers before/after the event as well ?

so far from the little i know, this sounds more like a local event plan than a uk scale event?

I would like to, but don't have any free weekends.
I have plenty of days off work left to take if it is likely to be mid-week though.

I'm interested but will be in south of France from 6th to 20th September. Wish I'd known it was there when I was resident in Admiral Rodney Hotel, Horncastle, from 2013/15. Would have been something different to just "adding weight" at The Blue Bell Inn and similar hostelries...

Hi, I'd be interested.

I'm away from 8th to 15th Sept, and I've usually got my son on a Tuesday and Friday evening, and all day Saturday. Other than that, I'm free!

"100 miles away and 2.5hr" ... :smt017 why don't you use one of your Lotus Gareth ?

For me it's 146 miles for a dual carriageway route, or 112 miles cross country, which is what Lotus are really built for. I reckon on about 2 hrs.
Did 125 miles cross country to north of Horncastle every Monday for 2 years, to arrive at 07:30 hrs, which was quite fun as roads were empty. Return on Friday evening was less so...

Last 2.5 weeks in September for me are free, w/e or week day. 184 miles 3.5 hours and worth it.

If its a weekend you need to check whats on at the track first

Ha, bloody ha... Don't think we aren't being screwed by the Chancellor too. Just opened a letter from DWP about my State Pension - first payment will be on 5th Sept, 175 weeks after I could have claimed it.
Having an occupational pension, which uses all my tax allowance, and working as a Consultant Engineer meant I'd lose 40% of the State Pension in tax so deferred taking it but time is marching on ....
If I don't do any more work it will still be taxed at 20% so my net increase in income is not very exciting .. in fact what I've paid in Corporation Tax and Income Tax over just the last 7 years would fund it for 99 years... :banghead:
Somehow I don't think you're funding my lifestyle but I can PM you my bank sort code and account number should you wish to do so ...'every little helps'..

Can please stick to the topic of organising and hopefully enjoying an afternoon/evening of Go-karting?
When it comes to complaining about how the government is screwing everyone over, I'm sure every one has reason to complain.

Actually it is only 85 if you go the shortest route and yes 2.5 hrs

That makes Chris T's 171 miles and over 3 hours seem like a walk in the park- sarcasm

or Dave Eds 130 Miles depending on who he crashed out with

or Nobs 145

NIGO

I always thought LEC was more than just about miles and time it was more about friends and like minds

Perhaps that is what has changed for the worst with LEC and why nothing seem to happen or get done anymore?

If youre only willing to stay on your own doorstep and wait for things to come to you- they never will!!

Those who do want to come to Woodhall for Karting and or East Kirby Lancaster museum or whatever will be most welcome. Dave Eds and ChrisT/Deidre put themselves out regularly to come and see me and help with whatever- and stock Maxine up with bubbles - they have also done this for the last 7 years- thats friendship- regardless of cost time or mileage.
