Clan McElan gairloch dash

Postby Scott J » Sat 24.06.2006, 12:32

Scottish peeps,

our last big group run was Oct 2004, long overdue another one.
Anyone fancy a highland blast, say Sat up, 1 night in Gairloch Big sands/Applecross, pish up, pyrotechnics, and back on Sunday.

"The liver is evil  and must be punished"

15-16 July ?

Wigwam, caravans, and bnb available at both the above locations.

A9 Glasgow/edinburgh - Stirling-Inverness-west coast, picking up cars for convoy en route.

I'll be returning from abroad on 16th July, and the following w/e is Knockhill isn't it?

Interested in principle, though.

23 July is Knockhill, so any takers for the following weekend 29-30 July. Gairloch has the best chippy in the country.

Mark, I'll be at Boness on 12th, lets all make an effort for 12th as the nights will start getting darker thereafter.

We can discuss the Clan McElan highland dash.

Combine it just before Callander during the week (less other people on the roads) and I can join you (hopefully) !

Wish I could make it this w/e Scott - weather looks nice and hot.

Maybe I can do a last minute dash after my house viewing on Sunday and stay in my Speyside bothy that evening and leave early Monday for Gairloch. Presumably you'll be at Big Sand ??

Do you want a half way stop on Sun evening Scott ??

I estimate that I will be at Aviemore about 20:00 - 20:30 for something to eat and drink at the Bridge Inn if you're up for it ? Good beers and food. Otherwise Smiffy's chip shop does good, fresh haddock suppers. You can stay in my bothy that night and we could go to Gairloch early Mon morning (est time 110 mins) - Big Sands may be a bit quieter on the Monday/Tuesday

If you're up for it I can PM you further details re. Bridge Inn/bothy etc....

Andy, I've PM'd my mobile to you.

Unfortunately ball joints are seized solid. 15 yrs of rust. Need new ones.
So I will be in the Fiat Punto Sporting, T reg, but the plus - its Lotus yellow 8)

Suggestions - mon lunch at that bar down on the water 2 miles down a single track rd. or BBQ

Dinner for Mrs J will defo be the best chippy in Scotland.

Tue lunch - BBQ or same as mon.

We can get some BBQ stuff, beers etc in Inverness.

Looking foward to it, however rest of country is in a heat wave, and NW Scotland - rain forecast, typical.
