Wow what a day!
Firstly, it didn't pee it down like last time!
Secondly, it was the finest collection of cars I've seen this side of Goodwood.
And thirdly, I got to meet some fantastic people and participate in a fantastic event.
There were loads of Esprits there, a few Elises, and just the one Elan. Mine. I was outnumbered 30 to 1 by Lambos, 50 to 1 by TVRs... how often does THAT happen?!?
While checking out a lovely red Esprit, Bigsi introduced himself as the owner. It was great to hear the full story about what had been organised and done to his car, and how great Castle Combe was (while we were getting drenched at Brunty)!
I took loads of pics of exotic machinery, and then realised that each marque was being invited into the arena to have a blast/parade, and to chat to the presenter. There were 19 TVRs at one point, and it all got a bit hairy with them trying to lay rubber and narrowly missing each other in the process.
So I went back and spoke to Bigsi to see if it would be possible to participate in the Lotus parade - hey at least I asked this time!!! When the time came, it was a bit surprising that out of over 30+ Esprits only 2 joined in. But it was great to be in between 2 of the classic "James Bond" style ones.
Russ Swift's displays were absolutely incredible - he has the most perfect car control I've ever seen, simply making them dance.
All in all, a top day. Next year more of us MUST get involved.
