Air Conditioning Removal

Postby abmunro on Wed 03.02.2010, 16:32

I would like to remove my Air Conditioning. ( weight saving )

No comments about diet..

Has anyone removed theirs?

I think that if its removed I will need a belt to go round pulleys etc( I did when I removed A/C from my GTiR )

Cheers

Belt from a non A/C car
I suppose if you were being environmentally friendly you would get the system drained of the gas but opps it leaked out.................
Rest should be just a spanner job, condenser and evaporator may be a bit tricky to get out.

I have not looked at it yet as I'm offshore again.

Is it easy to remove A/C radiator?

Cheers

Abmunro, just did this on the #886. Get ready to spend some quality time
with the car. Pump and lines 2-3 hours. radiator another 2 hours, not including
removal of the bumper to get access. Interior -wow- get ready for 4 hours of
pure joy. Not only can you not gain access to separate the heater portion, you
will end up removing the instrument cluster, heater attachments, ect. ect.ect.
Now ask your self if the 5 lb. condenser is worth the blood and guts to get it out.

This is on the Federal LHD.

Steve -w- new lady. :m100:

the radiator is relatively simple... the pipe beyond the engine without scratching any metal was a pain... :x

I have left the interior as it was... also the heater portion... too much trouble and no parts simply available... The costs and the work regarding the weight saving are too much. The other items (radiator, pipes etc.) are quick wins and I would do them again.
