Ah, right.... I have a 440Nm cordless, and it wouldn't touch the pulley bolt. (okay for other stuff though)....

...... still nowhere near as good as an efficient windy spanner set-up... but far easier to carry around and use.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually.....

A block of wood against the roll bar, trolley jack handle on the breaker bar and three grunts is all it took.

I've been faffing about with the four engine mount cap heads but rather than waste another hour (as our friend on YouTube did) I resorted to Stilsons and have just bought some new ones.

I'm up to 9:16. Where are you Jim/Jonathan?

10:33 Finished for today.

Who was the ***kwit who hid the centre bolt of the upper cover behind the engine mount AND used a set screw AND nut to secure the PAS hose clip?

I'd like to pi55 on his/her parade..

p.s. spent not too much time on the cap heads..

I haven’t started yet (and didn’t plan to be for Christmas - I’m just gathering parts)

Judging by the condition of that drive belt on the bottom pulley in your photo, Geoff, your need was greater than mine

And what's that heap of ferric oxide (top right of the crankcase pulley) ? That looks like it needs some attention in the near future

It is highly advisable to run a 6mm tap into the pulley holes before trying to bolt whatever restraining device to your pulley.
Just to clear whatever shite that may have collected over the years.

Nothing to stop you from tapping an M5 hole elsewhere…

I forgot to buy in the aux belts last cambelt change so they must date from the change just before I bought it in 2005. Or given the 1989 date code, maybe they are the originals. The last few years I've been watching them and hoping they'd last until the cambelt change.

Nitro's PCE is still in the loft waiting for a suitable moment.

I always use a rethreading kit like this. Less likely to clog and ruin the thread than normal raps and dies:

Top tip :)

..all I did today was remove upper cam cover. 10 minutes of foul language, pulling and shoving. Then I tackled the cam cover :)

Back to the coal face tomorrow.
