Coolant leak - using fluoresceine tracing dye

I have searched the forum but can't find any previous mention of this. I hope I'm not duplicating.

Recently I watched a guy on Youtube filling the cooling system of an M100 with fluoresceine tracing dye to locate a coolant leak using a UV torch. It seems like an effective technique. However I'm a little concerned that the dye could have short or long term detremental effects. Has anybody used this procedure or is it something I should avoid?
I'll make better mistakes tomorrow
