Screwing my hood frame back together

On of the bolts has dropped out of my hood, I am having problems screwing it back in again. Is there any way that I can release the tension that the hood is under to help me get everything lined up? Do I need to take out any of the other bolts first before I can get the missing one back in?

Have u tried lifting the hood up and lifting the rear deck to see if u can get it to line up?

Mine did this... check for a geometric lock on the seal frame right above the driver’s window..It’s ok to raise the hood to a mid position to get access... but double check for geometric locks before you close it again.

It should screw in easily with no pressure on the hood and assisting the arm that's dropped.

Or the other way... man up... eat three shredded wheat... and push up the arm that's dropped...both ways work.. I prefer this one..

Oh ... How I did it last time...

Held a hammer by the head in left hand...

and pushed the shaft against the lower arm...

and screwed in the bolt with the right hand...

I have the same problem with my hood, but the bolt has sheared in my case. Can anyone recommend where I can buy one, as they look quite specialised.

Don't take any more bolts out..

You normally use another device to remove a Geometric lock.

But .. yours is a broken system..because of the missing screw, it may not pivot correctly and break just above the drivers window..

Under normal operation you feel the locks in action as you lift the front part of the hood up to 90 degrees.. or back down again.. That cam sensation..

Just be careful if you move the hood.. guild bits by hand if you need. You can always look at the other side to see what's happening.

Take your time...

You'll be OK...

You can get them from SJ Sportscars for £7 ish plus vat plus delivery.
The part number is on page 71 of the parts guide.

I dropped mine down the B pillar and haven't got round to retrieving it so I used an M6 12mm socket head countersunk screw. Cost - 11p. It does the job fine and cosmetically is OK as it screws from the outside in, you cannot see it.
