Kia hood

I just contacted a local Kia dealer to see if I could buy a Kia Elan hood from them. First off they needed a registration or chassis number before they could even try to look (something to do with the parts computer system). That took a bit of finding but I managed to locate a scan of a magazine cover featuring a Kia Elan with a legible UK plate. The car was, of course, an import and so the part isn't currently on the system. The good news is that if I commit to order one it would be added to the UK parts system and a price set. However, they can't give me a price until its on the system and if I do order one its non-refundable, no matter what it costs...... Its a bit of a risk, I didn't fancy it.

sounds strange -- call another Kia dealer and see if you get the same story.

Since Kia got taken over by Hyundai, they seem to have lost interest in 'aftersales'

How about order something that's likely not to cost very much, like, a B-pillar cap or rear lights. If it works out, one might explore other options.

Apparantly when Kia bought the rights to produce the elan, they made an agreement with lotus that neither the cars, nor the parts were to be offered in the UK. As there both out of production now, this agreement seems a bit pointless now, but apparantly it still stands, as you can't get any Kia Elan parts from UK Kia dealer !

Did you look into the Kee (not Kia) top that LGM sourced and installed on her car? She seemed to be pretty happy with it......until someone cut it open for her
