Hood front seal

Postby Marcel CH » Fri 09.09.2016, 11:06

Hi, my Elan SE (1993) needed a soft top replacement. When removing the original hood, the front seal has been seriously damaged, beyond repair, I'm told.
Can anyone help me to find a new seal?

Make a rubber one yourself Marcel, even a roughly made one will be superior to the rotten water sucking sponge that was on it (worst seal on the Elan).

If you want a new one I think SJ Sportscars still have some.

SJ Sportscars don't have them but are hoping to get some made. I emailed them in July, they will put your name on a waiting list.

Found a solution mounting a Corvette '85 seal...
Quiet a bit of work adapting it, but it worked!

Good stuff Marcel!, just proves that a bit of innovation means we can keep these old cars on the road without having to spend fortunes  .

I love being top of the list. Even if it's not for a group buy.
