screenwash leaking from washer jets

How can i stop screenwash leaking from my washer jets? what could be causing this?
Its really annoying, i clean the car and once ive driven somewhere i end up having water marks all over the bonnet.
Any ideas how i can stop this?

The non-return valve is at the reservoir end of the pipe instead of the washer end. All you have to do is buy another non-return valve and fit it near the jets, eg under the bonnet near the passenger-side hinge.

PS: or if you're careful with your money, like somebody from Aberdeen or New Zealand, you can just move the one from the boot to under the bonnet.

Hi there , if you have a look at the service bulletin 1995/04 page 80 it gives instructions on how to move the diaphragm valve from the boot to a new position in the engine bay. Its a simple but effective solution.

will this solve the issue i find where I pull the lever, the car starts pumping the water......2 hours later the jets start spraying ?
maybe my logic is flawed but could this somehow stop the water from going back down the pipes by causing a vacuum at the jets end ?

Well what I did is to stop putting water on the washer tank! No leaks! Period! haha.. well if you think that our elans are mostly in clear condition, even if you go for a trip and have dead insects on the windscreen, when you pull over for gas, you can clean professionally the windscreen!!

Unfortunately for us in cold, wet Britain this would be a failure come MOT time

You'd have to remember to top up the reservoir at least once a year. And our roads are filthy too, particularly in the country where cow muck and mud are typical hazards. Best to splice the non return valve in as close as possible to the wiper end as the Whamster suggests

I had an issue whereby, after I had changed my jets it worked for a while but then the water wouldn't reach the bottom of the screen despite the pump being apparently quite spritely at the end.
After blowing out the line repeatedly with an airline and removing the one way valves I had fitted, I inadvertently stumbled across a joiner in the pipe just inside where it disappears into the wing.
I'm assuming that this was fitted at the factory and it is made of poxy steel.
The inevitable had happened and it had blocked. One, more sensible plastic connector ( and a replacement pump I effectively don't need) later and the now the jets are clearing the screen completely. Still, I'm hoping that it will hit the screen when I'm moving.
