Soft top adjust and alignment sos

So, spent 6 hours trying to adjust my hood using the b pillar adjusting bolt method as described in the service manual without much luck, I have new seals to fit and don't want to risk them with the current set. Can anyone in the Oxfordshire area assist or recommend a specialist sympathetic to elan? Demoralised

I swapped hoods when I fitted a blue S2 hood onto a Pacific Blue SE and found the clue is that adjusting the nearside bolts makes more change on the offside than the nearside, and vice versa - it's a long walk round so easier with a second person to tell you what's happening as you make the adjustments with the bolts. It's also better to remove the hood clasps so they don't stop the hood moving for fine adjustments. I never got it quite right but when I transferred the hardtop from my other SE I found the windscreen is slightly more raked on the offside than the nearside.. and the hood is a better fit than the hardtop! The delights of handmade cars ...

Thanks for the prompt reply. I haven't removed the hood clamps yet, what I hoped to do is use them to centralise the hood to header and with the b-pillar bolts loose lose any error either side at the back in x and zip if that makes any sense? Not really working out like that though, door glass is clashing with header and intermediate seals. I don't want to wreck my new pristine seals! My hood is an s2 on an se just for reference.
