hard top from mg

Hi, i have read a post about adapting the mg hard top to fit the m100. I am fortunate enough to have a friend whos son worked at a garage dealing with classic cars and hes looking to get me an mg hard top and help me to adapt it, and fix the pop up light cogs, and window ,screen seals,,lucky me..Anyway just to ask have many people tried this hard top, was it an easy ish job..For myself im an orthodontic dental tech so used to working with acrylic..

As you're an orthodontic person you will probably have to bridge some gaps and perform some fillings........oh come on - what did you expect ?!

You will find more information here from a few years' ago. I was going to have a go myself, but bailed when a hardtop came up for sale. I had bought an MGF hardtop ready to attack, which I sold on to novacaine (another dental connection?). I don't recall seeing him complete the project, though. It would be a substantial job because there is no part of the edge of the MGF hardtop which matches the contours of the Elan.

Thats a new one on me. never seen one with such a square back window.

NTC , which were meant to make the official supply to Lotus but never did

The NTC hardtop was different to the Lotus hardtop and there are a few more on the Wiki!

I was told that the hard top was custom made here in Thailand quite long time ago.

I bought an adapted MG hard top in black to use with my car last year and since it has sat in my garage, I did trial fit it to my car and it was a good fit and it came form another Elan where it had been fitted with the necessary brackets I will have pictures somewhere, I may have had a change of heart about fitting this as when the fixing brackets are on the car it means the soft top cant be used without removing the brackets on the hard top brackets on the header rail. Not a hard job but I am thinking I would rather keep it as a convertible.

So I could be putting the hardtop, fixing brackets and even a proper support stand up for sale soon will try to find the pictures I have of the roof and post in the for sale section, would like to get close to what I bought it for as well as the price I paid for the hood stand (£85) so likely around £500 if anyone interested.

The hood I have certainly does fit tight to the rear of the car if anything it sits slightly further back on the hood stowage lid than the soft top does. From just a loose fit onto my car without any brackets being fitted the whole hood seems to fit tighter to the car than the soft top does especially around the windows and B Pillar area, for my car if I was going to keep the hood I would have to remove the seal fitted to it for the screen top as my car already has the one piece A pillar and screen seal from Jamie.
