Hi, does anyone know what the deal is with cracks in the fibre glass close to seat belt mountings?
Is it an MOT failure?
Ive looked it up on here and the mountings are fixed into the steel outriggers right?
So the cracks wouldnt make any difference surely?

Whilst cracks to the fibreglass are not an MOT failure (as it isn't structural), I would suggest that you check that the metal structure is sound where the belts mount.
An MOT tester cannot remove carpets to gain access to the mounting points, so even if they are rusted to oblivion, it won't fail a test (unless the belts actually come away in their hands!)......
....... but just because they aren't tested, doesn't mean that they are safe.

Thanks, ive had a look through the wiki but can't find a diagram of the steel structure.
I need some proof that the mountings are fitted to it rather than just into the fibre glass if anyone can help.

Well, if my word isn't good enough.......
...... have a look at page 10.02A in the parts book for the body structure, and page 13.27A for the seatbelt.

In all my 17 years of M100 ownership, including 3 different cars, I have never ever had to prove this to the MOT tester. I am also very sure that no one else on LEC has had to do this either

I had vaguely similar problem at last MOT. Showed garage the relevant page of parts manual with main tub, he passed it no problem.

Once they'd seen the drawings they were happy so all good there,
Just gotta sort rear brakes now for MOT. Handbrake too high and poor performance on rolling road.
