Painted the US Back Plinth, Rear Tail eyebrows & 3rd brake

Did a thing... Elan was getting painted and wanted to try something a little different. An update that could be somewhat easily taken back to the original if needed. The notion was to bring the car up to somewhat more modern specs where the back area was filled more with the body color than black plastic. I did love how the black absolutely defined the area around the tail lights, it is sharp... don't get me wrong. But to reiterate, a small update to bring the car up to more of a modern spec and quickly remove if need be was the goal.

3/4 of the way through the project, they suggested "smoking" the tail lights. I did want to do something to hide the hairline cracks that we all know and love with these rears, so I said yea... "do it". They ended up doing all the light lenses, never agreed to that. They smoked the sides and fronts for the price I thought I was paying for just the back rears (score?). It's consistent, and they mentioned that and I kinda have to agree that having them all done works best. Now that I have eyes on it, I'm kinda digging it. Just wish the shop communicated better with me that this was their intention. Weird surprise.

Anyways have a look, yell at me if you hate it. Just want to reiterate, the work was done but it can be reversed if need be. Nothing is permanent in this world, we can always make a change.

i like the looks of those lens smoked, my main reservation about it is the fact that you made an already extremely rare part, even rarer, and lost some of its resale value by going away from the "standard" look.
obviously none of that is relevant unless you have a really bad day and end up trying to buy a replacement or sell the salvageable part.

Not to worry! It's a vinyl wrapping over the plastic and can easily be removed so it can go to the standard look. Made sure everything can be reverted back.
