While looking through the photos of the recent M200 sale on BAT, I saw a different type of hood stay from the corner of my eye. This was the best photo I could find of it in the collection.
https://bringatrailer.com/wp-content/up ... 000%2C1333 When I went to look at my own hood underside, I noticed a pre-existing hole in the right side frame (looking at it from front of car) which would seem to be in the same spot as this photo would indicate (and none on the otherside!).
I haven't read the Mark Hughes book, or know if this has been talked about before, but it seemed like a neat little vestige of an abandoned detail that you might have on your car too, and never knew.

Good eye! I'd love to have anything other than the giant stick in between me and the engine. The hood strut mod would be good if it could be re-engineered, but the M200 prop looks simpler

If I remember correctly, there was a group buy some years ago for gas struts and brackets to open the bonnet (hood) and keep it up. In what passes for my memory, the bracket supplier was based in Canada. There’s a thread somewhere on the forum. . .
EDIT: Found the
original thread!
