My stock material had a black facing surface that after 34 yrs had started to flake off leaving annoying small pieces if black material covering the engine bay and making a royal mess.
I purchased a roll of Thermal Heat Guard Sound DEADENING Adhesive Reflective AUTO Insulation from Amazon for about $40. Using cardboard I made a template of the stock thermal insulation padding and used this to shape and cut a new thermal blanket from the roll purchased from Amazon. This blanket had very strong adhesive backing that stuck securely to the remaining stock padding blanket after all the black stuff had been scraped off it. Using a special seam roller to press the new reflective blanket to the existing stock padding worked well. Did the primary hood surface plus the small section that sits above the turbo.
Job well done IMO, and I suspect a little bit more sound deadening can be claimed.
