S2 Hood Canopy

Postby johnbenk » Thu 03.11.2005, 23:31

Hi  :? :? :? :?: :?:

This may have been covered before????. Does an S2 Canopy fit an S1 frame or do you have to have a new set of header rail seals fitted?

John,
it fits. However the S2 hood is a bit wider (maybe why it doesn't leak as much, so you have to add a couple of plates on to the ends of the header rail. They're nothing much, just a couple of bits of thin plate. Trim technology supply them with their new hoods if you're going to fit them to and SE.

As to the seals, probably best to ask Monty, but I doubt if the header seal will be reusable after any hood replacement job. The other seals should be ok.

Anyway, best thing is to contact Trim Technology who can do you a new original equipment hood and remanufactured full set of seals for about £500 (plus fitting).

John,

when i did Pinky`s 1 roof (replaced with S2 type) i had to destroy the header seal to do it, the other seals are ok as there in the own guides.

If u`r thinking of replacing u`r roof i`d get Trim tech to do it.

According to Lotus when I replaced the seals on my roof they told me the header seal is different on the later roofs. 2 different part numbers.
