Lotus Elan Central

Hi guys,
I was wondering how a black colored lotus looks like in real life , cause on pictures and movies i dont like it , for the lotus elan is a small car ,black even makes the car look smaller , and alot of details that makes the car looks nice are hidden aswell in black, so is this aswell in real life?

2 of the best looking or best performing Elans out there (Paul's JPS & Costas's Sh4rk) are black, and they're soon to be joined by a third - see Jimbob's recent posts about his re-chassis and re-shell project.

Black was very under-rated at the time. It's now highly desirable and VERY rare. I'd have one!

I think black suits the car perfectly - showing off it's lines to best advantage - all IMHO of course.

The fact is, as soon as I saw one in the flesh I just HAD to have one ...

The Elan is a gorgeous car whatever the colour. Black does look very nice.
The only trouble with any black (or white) car is that it looks superb when clean & shiny, but the slightest hint of dirt makes it look scruffy.

My particular favourite is Mustard.

Don't call me biased cuz mine is Pacific Blue..

Rip, having had a white & black one, your right about black ( keeping clean ), but white wasn't to bad, as Marie said, but actually the Norfolk Mustard is a pig to keep clean !

You made me feel guilty, as collapso has been used and abused for these last few weeks of rain, so today was spent t-cutting and polishing her. But as I cant keep two garage Queens, she'll be ripping up the M11 again on Monday

Careful with T-cut Dave.

Remember it's a two-pack base coat and lacquer finish. T-cut will only affect the lacquer, until it wears it away.

If you were to drive it in winter, when the roads are wet with snow melted by rocksalt spread overnight?
Then white would look dirty much more quickly than most colours.

No, my Elan would stay in the garage then as well.

For an everyday car, I would never choose white. I would actually refuse to buy a second hand car if it was white. For a second car (which my Elan is) well that would be a different matter.

Help... How can yellow look dirty more quickly than white??? I don't understand!

Fortunately for me, mine is blue. Must wax it again today.

......and thats part of the reason I live in san francisco. NO SNOW! We don't have salted roads, just lots of hills and fog. Gotta love California.
