Roof or window adjustment? And rust treat?

I am happy with the rust in the front - it has not progressed very far, and I can weld in a small section to cover where it has rusted - I assume (Again forgive my lack of knowledge!) that it is easy to re-seal a new section in?


The section by the battery doesn't look 'too bad' - it has obviously gone through, but all 4 sides around the rested bit seem very solid - I have not had time to clear all the rust away, but it just seems to be that flat section has rusted through with no other rust progressing.

Thing is, does that flat section there missing (the rusted bit) cause any issue with the structure? I can only think of cutting another flat section the same size, slotting it on top and welding it in?

Sounds like your on the right track, on the front cut back to sound metal, fabricate a section, weld it in on 3 sides, bearing in mind that heat and plastic/resin (ie the floor don't mix!), treat with something like Por15, then use sikaflex along the bottom seam, and paint if you wish. Oh and then Dinitril the area.

The rears, much the same access permitting but I think its a good idea to use a rust killer/converter/stabilizer asap and then try to sort out the leaks as best you can

In regard to jacking you don't need to use the rear points, the front jacking point will lift both front and rear wheels its also easier to see and maintain.

Smashing, just what I needed to hear - will have it all sorted - I have some POR 15 still in the garage from when I had my Elise, so will plaster it in that for the mo - I will be doing all the work within 8 weeks or so, so it wont be long

Now the roof and seals - Im having a tough time trying to get the leaks sorted - the only places it comes in from are the gaps along the back ( as mentioned in my first post) and about half way up the drivers seal along the A pillar - but I am confident a bit of a fiddle will sort that.

One thing that might be not helping - the n/s roof catch lines up perfect, but the o/s one is too far towards the inside of the car, so I assume the roof needs a twist - I think I need another M100 owner who really knows these roofs to have a look and see what I need!

I'd be interested in how you get on with roof alignment because my drivers side latch is really tight whereas the passengers side is less so indicating that some adjustment is warranted though I'm not too sure what needs tweaking!

How does your roof sit in relation to all the seals mate? I see you're in Chippenham, I am only in Malmesbury, might it be worth me popping over at some point and comparing/seeing if we can work out what we both need to do?
