WoW nice work. My worry is like someone else said (one man) it's an awful lot of work. Have you made or shipped any sets yet. I'd like to be added to the list but my fear is it's not happening?.. parhaps we need to buy your wealth of knowledge and have a go ourselves??..

How does the side seal work if it's now one piece rather than the original two piece part ? I would have thought that the roof would Ben it at that point when it folds ?

The one piece is removed before you pop the roof, then put back in position after you put the roof up, sounds a faff but really isn't

Just had the one piece seals fitted to my Elan and they work a treat, makes folding the roof down so much easier. Clipping them into place takes seconds each side and as you need to be out of the car to put the roof up anyway it doesn't feel like a great deal of hassle. Way simpler than fitting the roof to a more modern Elise!

Car was outside yesterday evening and got caught in a heavy thunder shower and when I put it away in the garage was bone dry inside

how do you reach to remove the one from the passenger side ?

i dont fancy the walk around, it really destroys the joy of setting up the roof faster than anyone else... years ago i stopped behind a boxter that was halfway through the process of putting up the roof.
I was out of the layby in 20 seconds. i am not sure he even realized a 20 year older car parked by put up the roof and left while he was waiting for the fancy electrics to work

The only difference having the one piece seal is:
you remove it before you take the roof down and put it back after you put the roof up.
Everything else is the same, apart from:
You haven't got the two piece seals that clash as you fold the roof down and destroy themselves.
You also have two lengths of one piece seal to knock some sense into anybody that thinks the two piece is better
Oh and the one piece looks so much better

You are absolutely right that extra 10 seconds walking to the passenger side and back has put me off them, it will probably cost me less than 3 minutes of my life every year!

Now if you could beat a Honda S2000 in getting the roof up and down that would be impressive - 3 touches and about 7 seconds, all without having to take the seatbelt off. Only around 10 years between development as well.

yes my 1 piece seal is fitted with the 1piece header.

I also have a set of the 2 piece seals from Jamie (i think it was hes last batch) on the shelf, been pondering installing for a while.

I have not put the roof down a few times already because it was a faff to go to the other side of the car in a narrow parking spot. it makes a difference when you use the car on a regular basis

Nice development on the last version Jamie, the side seal looks really smart and much neater than the previous section pieces with carbon backing you designed. I've had no water leaks since I fitted the the seals I had from you. keep up the great work.

It most certainly could Simon, but there wouldn't really be that much benefit from it in comparison to the one piece header and A pillar design, having the header seal actually
fixed to the header beam instead of the hood is always going to be a better solution to prevent water ingress and is probably the main reason most manufacturers do it that way.

If you are the type who would prefer to keep the original design however there is a one off chance to have them in modern EPDM here..... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156268374510 ... SwYJhmdtml

Hi! Not to bother this thread, but I've had basically no luck with sealing the roof on my Elan. If at all possible, I'd love to be put on the list for a set of these seals. My door seals are surprisingly fine, it seems, but my roof seals leak pretty badly. I could also do with a tutorial, if possible!! I'm great with hands on stuff. My problem is just that I'm in the United States, and it seems like most of the donor cars you've found work best to get seals from aren't even available here. If I could, I'd rather buy a set from you than buy a set of donor seals from a different car and immediately hack them apart. Otherwise, I'll try my best on my own - I've had no successful results yet. Thanks!!
