Hard Top - Now Obsolete

Those wheels (should be 19") are great looking, but only if you own a Lotus Elan for show off and be a headturner. Such wheels make driving look like hell and turning almost impossible, not to mention that wheel arches should be removed with all the conciquences. Of course fast driving is out of the question, so YES they are good looking but for a Jap car and NOT the Elan.

If i`m not mistaken those wheels are OZ Titans (or something very similar).  I have them on my honda CRV  ;D

11 months since the last addition, but what the hell.<br><br>Back in 91 ish,if I remember rightly, we did a hard top for the Elan. It was for use on a clubsport variant.<br>! example of the car was made in this spec and sold as surplus at the end of the project. It was driven by Bob Eaton as part of an evaluation.<br><br>You never know, the tool may still be in existence somewhere in the bowels of the factory.<br><br>It was a rough unit a thin as possible (for obvious reasons, but was stiff and easy to remove/fit.<br><br>By the way, the car was the biz<br>

SY, i remeber you mentioned at some post you are over 6' tall. I am 6'4-6'5" (1.95m) and I wonder if you are comfortable with the hard top or not. Is the headroom better or worst than with soft top?

Wow, thanks for the positive feedback guys I'm almost (but not quite) speechless.<br>I must say that I'm delighted with the hardtop; it really looks like it was meant for the car from the car's outset.<br>Simon, you da man! <br>I need to fit the production seals though (Dan got drenched bringing the car home on Thursday) and probably realign the passenger window (it's never been right since I've had the car) to lean in a little more.<br>The first time I took the door card off (to replace the original Lotus speakers I discovered pieces of broken glass in the bottom of the door.  So it's been replaced (badly) sometime in the past.<br><br>Costas<br><br>Headroom...I haven't noticed a problem.  So take it that it isn't any worse than the soft top.<br><br>One thing I have noticed though...the panoramic vision out of the rear window is amazing compared with the restricted view of the letter box translucent panel on the soft tops.<br><br>TC<br><br>There's no copyright on the design man...you go ahead if you want.
