Due an excessivly heavy right foot and a fondness for grinning, the front of my car is like a fly's cemetary. Do I need to be cautious of bug removing concoctions damaging the laquer or gelcoat? Just being uber precautious.
Oops, sorry, posted this in the wrong place..

Just buy some AutoGlym fly remover. Spray on, leave for a minute and wipe off. It really works.

An even cheaper and more readily available tip that used to be recommended for motorcycle fairings is to soak a towel in as hot a bowl of water as your hands will stand, then spread the towel out over the offending area while you go off and clean the rest of the bodywork.
When you come back to remove the towel, hey presto, all the nasties underneath have gone nice and soft and easily wash-off-able.

Striking fear into the hearts of duplicate posts everywhere...!
