boot lock failure S2

Hi

I went out this morning and I could not get the boot open on my S2 , the key goes in the lock and turns about 30 degrees but won't go any further. Any ideas on how to get the lock working or do I have to drill the lock out ?

No, don't do any thing hasty, there is a method for opening the boot without this sort of pain but for obvious security reasons I'll not detail,it here.

Hopefully, somebody will be along shortly who will pm you the solution, if not then I'll try to sort some simple instructions out for you

Where are you based ? I've had to get into my SE a few times when I've left the keys in there so if its the same I would be able to help only problem is I can't drive at the moment as I've broken some toes. I'm in Brentwood Essex if it helps.

thanks for the quick reply, I should clarify though.... I bodge-fixed the boot lock myself when the back fell off (the little plastic part that flicks the release mechanism). So, it's that that's happened again, rather than the exact same problem as the previous post.

Last time I was able to pull the whole barrel through. However, last time I fixed it I secured it with some spacers between the barrel and the inside of the boot, meaning it's wedged in pretty securely now and I can't simply yank the barrel through again...

Managed to pull the lock barrel through again after a bit of fiddling about.

Could do with getting it fixed properly I think (I'm assuming a standard locksmith/car locksmith could help in this regard), or bodging it myself again and adding an extra boot release mechanism that can be operated from inside the car (anyone got any ideas?)...

Try this method as an alternative to cutting the boot lid (same thread as above but a bit further on(!)

I did mine this way (ie mounting the solenoid to the boot light bracket) and it works fine after bit of fiddling. Even connected it to the alarm so I can open the boot from the remote as well as inside the car.

Keys locked in boot? Is this sort of thing covered by breakdown insurance/ roadside assist?

The first time I done it (and the last) we were in a car park and the AA came and opened the boot.
But you should be able to do it yourself, has anyone pm'd you the solution.

Hello, I an new here and restoring a 1991 M100, My boot (trunk) will not open with the key,, the key just spins around in the lock. Can someone either post or PM or email me the solutions discussed above? thank you! Jason
