Replacement lock

Hi

Sometime in history my boot lock was forced and totally stuffed. The owner at the time rigged some cable ties through to the hood stowage well and by pulling on these the boot opens. Brilliant.

I'd like to return it to original though and am seeking advice on how to do this. I need a new boot lock, but I want it to match the set of keys that fit the ignition and other locks. I want to avoid having lots of keys for different locks.
I'm sure I'll have the original key code with the paperwork, but who do I give it to who will give me a matching barrell?

You could modify it like mine & remove the door locks then fill the holes. The doors still lock but by remote only. You will only have the 1 key then.
This was not a mod I made; I bought my car like it. I like it though.
Another alternative is to look for an Elan being broken. I expect locks are not the most common thing to be snapped up so you may be able to buy the set.

There were sets of locks and keys on eBay a while ago and I think they were on the aftersales list as well

And then I can see changing the doors to be relatively straightforward but I can't imagine that changing the ignition barrel is quite so easy?

Has anybody had experience of this?

Have you got an S2?
On an SE/NA, the ignition barrel takes a completely different key from the boot/door anyway.

Basically, to get the same key for ignition, 2 x doors and the boot you need a set of locks from an S2 - as RIP says, the doors and boot are different to the ignition on the SE/NA.

Actually changing the lock units is quite straightforward (even the ignition) - the hard bit is getting the locks to start with.

It is an S2, so by the sounds of it , I just have to look out for a new lock set. I suppose these are only available second hand?

That is the SE 2 door and 1 boot set. SJ also have them - at £75.06

NOT listed for the S2. It would be easiest to find a used S2 boot lid and buy the lock and clip and then have a locksmith re-key it to your existing keys.

The correct part number for an S2 boot lock is A100U6054F - it went obsolete in 2001

On my SE the boot key is very small and also fits the doors but rarely* used as the doors are usually opened and locked remotely with the Gemini Alarm/Immobiliser fob. Only key I use is boot key so wouldn't cause me any problems to have a different boot key. (* Only time I lock doors with key is if I don't want to set the alarm for some reason)
