Never seen one on an Elan, used to have one on my Sunbeam Alpine.
Loved it. Great for keeping the sun off the interior, also kept the dust out when parked in the garage.
Had a zipper down the middle so you could just uncover the driver's side and drive around with the rest under the cover - kept the heat from the heater in, so a nice way to enjoy winter days.

-worked really well on my MG Midget. The Elan one looks like it could have been better made and fitted, but I applaud the initiative

Personally, if this had worked as well as intended for the Midget and the Alpine ie with a zip down the middle, I'd have one for the M100. I tend to drive, and park, with the top down whatever the weather so this would be a useful adjunct to me. More use than mudflaps anyway

A comment on the thread was made about having to make holes in the doors for the fasteners. I believe thread comments had the cost at around 350 GBP.

Thanks for posting the photo Don. This one looks like it has 2 studs each side. One just behind the door and one mid door. The top photo only appears to have one stud on the outside and the other must be inside the car window (??) as the window is raised

Yeah, where would the water go if you had a shower ?!

More hassle than its worth - only takes 15-20 seconds to throw the roof up or down and secure it.

And most of that is clambering out of the car. Maybe we should have a contest at Castle Combe next year ? Fastest person to get their hood unclamped, down, back up and clamped with a Le Mans start. Who's up for that ?

PS I heard on the grapevine that there's only on f in Geof Smith is busy developing an electric roof. Group buy anyone ?

Pinky usually buys things and then stores them forever , and will only find them again when he moves .
Put me in 11th as i usually find that i should have bought these things when the group buy has ended .
