Release handle no longer fixed

Postby elaverick » Sat 11.05.2019, 17:08

The release handle for the soft top has detached from the body work. I assume there was a nut holding it in place previously but this popped off when we attempted to open the stowage compartment.
How do I get in to reattach the handle to what ever it clamps on to?

Ok found it thanks to a couple of threads on here. For anyone looking for this in the future you need to pull up the carpet in the hood storage compartment around the battery and unscrew the plastic panels. You can just get an arm in to tighten the nut back on. I lost a scrivet along the way (and possibly a couple of others that were rounded whilst trying to remove them), but it appears to be fixed now.

I’m about to refit my hood storage plastic cover, and I’ll probably have some scrivets left over, because I bought some spares. If you can wait a couple of weeks you’re welcome to one or two, or SJs sell them if not.

That would be fantastic if you do, thanks.
Is there a better way of removing the scrivets or are you just likely to lose some due to the design?

It’s just a cunning way of keeping SJs in tea and biscuits
