They are a pair of 'B' post caps..... I think they are the later type, but I may be wrong.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

Dave, I'd have to say that you are correct. They also seem to have the hinges attached too.
