Wind deflector

I am looking to get a wind deflector for my car and see that there a few around, although all are the black ‘see through’ type which I had on a previous convertible and they work fine. However has anyone thought of making a deflector from clear Perspex as I think that the black ones look obtrusive and spoil the lines. The Alfa Spider from the 2000s had a clear Perspex one and looks a lot better. In the picture below, you can hardly see it. I would have thought that it would be easy to make one and mount it using brackets bolted to the map pocket as per the black ones.

Mine is a perspex one, but it is attached to the roll hoops, so I don't know how easy it would be to make up some brackets which would support it well enough to work, but allow enough flexibility to prevent it cracking......

If you really wanted to be creative, you could fit a couple of Merc SLK seats with seat heaters and the integral Airscarf. Then you have nothing hindering the rear view at all . . . . .

That’s very similar to the Alfa although I was thinking about one that stretches across the width of the car. Where did you get the hoops from?

They were from a group buy about 15 years ago.... made by Marie (LotusGirlMarie on here) in San Fransico.

I've seen other cars with purely cosmetic (plastic?) hoops bolted to the rear deck, which could do the job of holding a perspex screen - but I wouldn't want them on my own car.

Well, this is another “roundtoit” project of mine. I fitted R171 SLK seats into my NA about 10 years ago and then didn’t work out the wiring for the seats or the airscarf so if anyone wants to work out the wiring / voltages my wife would appreciate the input!
