Homemade Pillar Epdm Seal Oem Style

Postby Portugal_lotus » Sun 16.07.2023, 18:11

Hello Friends,
I was not sure if I should share but my love for the Lotus Elan M100
and for this forum is stronger than any bad admin attitude … let’s go forward !
Here goes my sharing with all of you:
after having seen everything of Jamie ( king of seals ) has done,
I tried my luck and went looking for alternatives,
I found several seals in a car parts warehouse, of which only one of the 7 I brought fit perfectly in the pillar rail,
when I say perfectly , it fits even better than the original sponge and without any glue !
the challenge now was to do the finishing , so I thought of making an exact copy of the lip of the original and sent it to a rubber house where I paid to make several lips for the finishing , 3 days ago I went to get the finishing and started welding to the rubber of the car, the result is phenomenal! however I have plenty of lips to improve the visual finish, when I have more time I will share it with you.
Thanks to Jamie for the idea.

We're all on the edges of our respective seats with what seals you started with and how you constructed these.
