Subject: The Elan M100 hinge assembly for the glove box issue

The passenger side glove box's plastic hinge lug broke off. It's the lug that is attached/hooked onto to a transverse brass rod that runs the complete width of the glove box. This rod is kind of hidden unless the glove box is lowered down beyond its top stop.

So my issue was the glove box was hanging on to just its remaining plastic lug and in danger of also breaking off.

I tried in vain to remove the brass rod so ended up cafefully cutting the broken off lug that was hanging on the brass rod and using J-P Weld epoxy reattached the plastic lug to the glove box where it had broken off from. I left this to cure over night and in the morning the weld was nicely cured and the plastic lug was firmly re-attached. The trick now was to get this lug onto the brass rod that could not be removed. Using the cut, with it slightly pried apart, I was able to push the lug onto the brass rod to secure the newly attached hinge for the glove box.

Three cheers go to J-P Weld as it did a marvelous job for re-attaching the broken off lug to the lower corner of the backside of the glove box.
