Urgent- Engine mount insert.

I wont go into detail, but by around 9pm tonight i need to know if the round rubber insert on the right hand side engine mount can be pressed out and then pressed back in. It looks as though it is bonded to a steel ring which in turn seems to be pressed into the round section of the engine mount.

Bizzare, but this will determine the colour of my cam cover

Don't think I got it in by your deadline, but yes it can.

They are all similar, but basically they all have a compressible rubber in a steel ring that is pressed into the actual "mount."

I had to replace my inboard (behind the engine) as it had cracked leaving me with a huge "thunk" every time I would accell/decell. Be glad it isn't that one, as it is no party I assure you!

Basically I just ordered a replacement, removed the old mount, then went after it with a carbide cutter. After cutting it at two points, I was able to hammer the old one out. It is difficult due to the dissimilar metals unfortunately.

The new one pressed in without issue however, but it took a LOT of force.

Also, make sure you check the service notes as (on US cars anyway) there is a specific orientation of the rubber/steel ring within some of the mounts.

I've decided to leave well alone. I was only disasembiling it for cosmetic purposes (chrome/paint)
