HOOD OPEN PULLY HAS COME OFF FROM DRIVER SIDE FIBRE BODY

Postby rushing » Tue 13.03.2007, 22:17

help help help!!! :(

I SNAPPED OFF THE PULLY TO RELEASE AND OPEN THE HOOD FROM THE FIBRE GLASS BODY. THE CABLE AND HANDLE ARE STILL INTACT BUT I HAVE GOT AN INCH AND A HALF CIRCLE OF FIBRE GLASS BODY MISSING FROM WHERE THE SMALL BLACK LEVER ATTACHES NEAR THE INSIDE DOOR. I GUESS THE NUT HAS COMEOFF FROM THE INSIDE AND FALLEN OFF . I CANT EVEN FIND THE ORIGINAL WASHER . WHAT A NIGHTMARE :!: .

I STILL CAN RELEASE THE HOOD CATCHMENT OUT BY PULLING IT. BUT THE PULLY COMES ALL THE WAY OUT.

I THINK I NEED TO GET INTO THE INSIDE OF THE BACK PANEL TO PUT A WASHER AND A NUT TO HOLD IT IN . BUT I DONT KNOW HOW I SHOULD DO THIS ?? . HAS THIS EVER HAPPEND TO ANYONE ELSE BEFORE.??

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IF THERE WAS INFACT A WASHER AND A NUT ATTACHED , AS I HAVE NOT NOTICED THIS. HOW DO I GET INTO THE INSIDE FIBRE GLASS PANAL WHERE THE LEVER / PULLY IS??? A FRIEND SAID THAT I WILL HAVE TO PUT A WASHER OF SOME SORT TO HOLD IT.

IM SO DISSAPOINTED AS BIT OF ROUND FIBRE GLASS HAS COME OFF WHERE THE LEVER ATTACHES. WELL AT LEAST I CANT SEE IT WHEN I SHUT THE DOOR. I WILL HAVE TO BE CAREFUL THAT I DONT CATCH THE LEVER WHEN I SHUT THE DOOR AS THIS WOULD BEND THE PULLY.

I WILL TRY TO GET A PIC TO SHOW OVER THE WEEKEND BUT FOR NOW I WILL HAVE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS THINKING HOW TO FIX THIS  .CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE WHAT I SHOULD DO AND HOW I SHOULD MEND THIS.???

Start here!

If you haven't already done so, sign up for access to the manuals section so you can get a better idea of what you're dealing with - the crap photos on the above thread are from the manuals.

Good luck with it.

Hope this helps...

1) Remove the trim

2) Whinge like hell cos you've rounded off the srivet things

3) Use a wood chisel vertically to get more purchase on the dam things

4) Use a wood chisel horizontally and take the tops off

5) You have all the access you need...
