Triangular door trim behind mirror

I’ve been in search of a rattle…
Has anyone mastered the art of fixing the triangular door trim behind the mirror?
Does the heavy duty ‘Velcro’ only slide together as opposed to it being a push fit?
Is it best done with the main door panel off, or as anyone successfully had it on and off with the main panel in place?
If it only sides together, presumably it also slides off, upwards?

Hi Ray,
I have found that they are fairly easy to fix in position by offering up the trim to the holes in the door panel at abot 45 degrees then pushing the trim onto the velcro. It ain't a very good design. I don't get rattles though.

I'll try that in the morning. The first problem I had was getting it off. Because it won't pull off, I assumed it won't push on. It may be it is intended to push on as you say, and slide off - if only we knew...

Yeah, the velcro does grip really well. In fact, I recall that the adhesive gave up before the velcro Evostick type contact adhesive works well to reattach the pads.

You were right Mark,
The best way to get it firmly down on the main panel is to approach it at 45° As for taking it off, only a putty knife slid between the two parts of the Velcro seems to work without pulling the pad off.
