Window Sliders??

Postby cjay » Sun 21.10.2007, 03:17

Just wondering if the window sliders came from anything GM?

My Sliders are OK but the white cone shaped bit that bolts into them and runs outside the track have cracked up It's the ones on the top of the front tracks.

Anyone know if Lotus still stocks the little buggers?

If I ever meet the guy who designed the doors on these things I'm going to kick him in the dangly bits!

The making of the Elise video where they said "we are not very good at doors" came to mind!

Thanks in advance

If it`s the part i`m thinking off i`m in the same boat as my passanger side glass wobbles cause the top inner one has come away from the glass  so i`ll be interested in if there still available :?

I know what u mean
Dico and I removed a door glass from a spare door last week, and i can`t believe how daft a design  bobbins, sliders butterfly clips WTF is that all about.
BTW what to replace those sliders the glass needs to be removed (unless someone knows different :? )

Don`t forget the sliders that are on the window motor (where the butterfly clips to) are in the lotus surplus store

I worked out a way to re attach the top one without removing the glass :)

If you remove the rear view mirror and drill a small hole you can tighten the outside screw on the slider :) You can tell where to drill the hole if the loose screw has hit the fiberglass on the inside.

if the other sliders need to be done your screwed.

I have to wonder why they used about 10 screws to hold in the crappy speaker in the friken door!

and don't get me started about the stupid push in clip on the door card!!! Grrrr!!! a joy for S2 owners only I think.

If it is the slder boss you are having problems with, they were still available earlier this year. I bought a couple from Christopher Neil (Lotus Dealer) earlir the year. Think it was a kit which included the sliders as well.

Has anyone tried a Peugeot 405?
Seeing as the centre mech is very similar (same motor, just a longer runner & cables), it might be worth a go...? :?

If you are looking for the sliders they are still available at your Lotus dealer. Have a look at the diagram.

these are the references :
-one 8 mm slider boss - B100B0536F
-one 12 mm slider boss - B100B0537F
-one plastic bush - C100B0115F
-one slider block - B100B1097F

I rebuilt my two windows ; it takes about 4 hours per door but the result is fantastic. So if you need help, send me a message.

So beside these-

-one 8 mm slider boss - B100B0536F
-one 12 mm slider boss - B100B0537F
-one plastic bush - C100B0115F
-one slider block - B100B1097F

All you need for a complete refurb is two butterfly clips?
Anyone got the part numbers for these?

According to SJS

CLIP, (Butterfly) GLASS to REGULATOR EACH 3.61 A100B6271S

From the diagram above I'm guessing it's one 8mm and 3 12mm bosses per side (SJS list them as 7.5mm and 11.5mm). Can't understand why the 8mm one costs £20 and the 12mm ones are only a fiver!

I've been scared to touch either of my electric window buttons for months now coz they made horrible crunching noises the last time. Winter project will be refurbing both sides methinks..

these are the prices in Luxembourg ( i live near this country where the VAT is cheapest than in France)
-one 12 mm slider boss - B100B0537F 8.10€ (included vat)
-one plastic bush - C100B0115F 9€ (included vat)
-CLIP, (Butterfly) GLASS to REGULATOR A100B6271S 5.70€ (included vat)

I followed this method to rebuild the windows and i can say that 's perfect now.
