I've just read this thread and wondered if the "pitch" of the window is the angle it leaves the door frame and engages with the the roof, or is it the angle it leaves the frame if looking square onto it?

"As Doug said, you can adjust the raise height and pitch of the window from inside the door guts, and might also need to reset the top seals (fiddle with the star shaped screws on the hood frame will get you the vital mill of adjustment needed.)"

The problem I have with my drivers door is that it needs to be raised about 1-2mm and appears to be higher at the front than the back so wondered if you can raise the back accordingly?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

The service manual tells how to make all the adjustments. Basically, what you need to do is adjust the upstops, or at least one of them. You'll understand when you look at the manual. It looks relatively easy.

Glad to hear that this was helpful. It's been 2-yrs since I had the problem (no warning w/mine either), and all has been well so far - no problems w/the windows since then. If you are referring to the 'orange-clips' in your question, the answer is that they often break in removing them, but that was not my experience. As I wrote, I was able to remove them on both doors w/o breakage - but that was, presumably, because I had a bag-o-new-ones. If I didn't, they'd have broken to pieces - for sure. You, obviously, were careful also. As long as your motor is good and the window adjustments are correct, then this is not such a difficult job. The hardest part was finding all the &*^% screws that secure the door panel, which the above writeup was essential/most-appreciated in assisting. To the author of that help-document - Bravo!

I've had both door-panels off before when I put in new speakers. I've never messed with the windows though.

I'm referring to these:
Centre Slide for Window Regulator (Left Door) - A100B6211S
Centre Slide for Window Regulator (Right Door) - A100B6210S

If only the butterfly is broken why order these?

The orange-clips are another matter, and I was 50% on those last time. I ordered 1/2 dozen as spares, as well as a bunch of the 'scrivets' which secure the 2 (inner-door/window) access panels.

I didn't - I just replaced the broken bfc that broke. I can see no need unless it is prudent to do so while you're in there.

The Window Butterfly

Postby algirdas » Mon 26.05.2008, 03:57

Dear Matt:

Guys out here salvage old butterfly clips by trimming off the clip part, then fitting a nylon/plastic washer and then fitting the mother of all E-clips. I would also not hesitate to try using an external split ring. The plastic washer is to prevent chafing against the window from the E-clip/split ring.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Algirdas

My butterfly had broken in 2-places; kinda weird by my reconing. Pictures to follow tomorrow.

The job was a piece of cake and not the swearing session I'd envisioned... mostly thanks to you guys. Do lube the left & right ends of the butterfly's clip so it will readily snap into place, as your angle opon install is greatly compromised in situ.

I OCD'd on the door-jamb: "I have to lean against that... let me clean it 1st." That took over 2 hours! Picture-proof tomorrow.

As my window-repair in 2002 ran over $700, this effort is one an economist will appreciatte. BTW, what a penny-pinching, cheapo design. Let us hunt the engineer for sport.

Agreed! We'll give him a 5-minute head start... To those unintiated with the M100, I laud the Elan's suspension but add that it was unfortunate that their budget was all blown there with nothing left for the switchgear, steering wheel, etc... It's too bad that it was such a marketing flop that the engineers never got the opportunity to finish it (enough space chassis-aft for a differential). You'd think that at least they would have the common sense to take a die grinder to the "Isuzu" on the camcover.
And, still, I love it.

This should give you an idea. The butterfly is most likely all you need; the LH or RH piece will probably be intact.

The black scrivets are 11 per door, 22 total... not the 18-total listed in the door strip-down. As alluded to there, it is best to push the center-rivet through into the door, where you can easily recover them.
