Door Seal Repair

Postby zaria123 » Tue 05.05.2009, 14:43

My door seals are spot on apart from the 'thumb' shaped piece which wraps up on to the weather strips along the windows.

Has anyone carried out decent repairs on these, or replaced just the ends with something else, or something from another car?

Now that Ive put new weather strips on, it just highlights how tatty they look. I've tried using sikaflex on one, but its not really a satisfactory result.

I wondered if any other car used a similar principal that we could 'borrow' or does anyone know a way (or a place) to remould some basic rubber replacements (I wouldn't have thought it would be too difficult to recreate if there was a company who could do the moulding), so we could cut off the old end and tack on a new one, cheaper than new seals if or when they were ever available?

Cheers....any photos of what folk have done would be a bonus?
